DESIGN-A-FAIRY DOOR contest: Open to children in grades K-8
Help us invite more magical fairies to the Caledonia Conservancy
Fairies are known to use their magical powers to protect children (and adults), grant wishes and provide answers to our deepest, most soul-searching questions. But how do we communicate with the fairies? That’s easy…through a FAIRY DOOR!
A fairy door is a magical portal between our everyday world and the fairy realm. And the Caledonia Conservancy is asking for your help to build a fairy door at the King’s Corner Nature Learning Landscape Center located a 4813 5 Mile Road (the corner of Hwy 31 and 5 Mile Road).

Take a FUN break, think about nature and show off your imagination and art skills! What does your portal into the fairy world look like? Show us your idea for a fabulous fairy door and enter the Caledonia Conservancy DESIGN-A-FAIRY DOOR contest. The winning fairy door will be installed at the King's Corner Learning Center and will recognize the child artist by their name and age. The winner may choose to build the door themselves, with the help of a parent. Otherwise the Caledonia Conservancy will construct the door, on their behalf, following the original design as closely as possible.
Rules:
Submit your drawing on a single sheet of 8.5” x 11” paper; include your name, age, email address and phone number.
The fairy door itself can be no larger than 6” tall x 6” wide – please draw to scale.
The fairy door can be any shape you want.
The real fairy door will open and reveal a message about nature - so make sure to draw a hinge or two.
If you want to add a window, please color it in using black – no actual glass will be used.
Please DO NOT draw anything that looks like something a bird would want to eat (e.g., red berries or a squiggly worm.)
Drawings should be in color – use colored pencils, crayons, markers, paint, etc.
If your drawing is selected, the actual fairy door will be made with ½” thick wood; outdoor acrylic paints will be used to match your colors as closely as possible.
DEADLINE TO RECEIVE ENTRIES IS THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2021.
Please submit your drawing via email to: rhugier@wi.rr.com. If you cannot send via email, call Barbara at 262-681-1161 to make other arrangements for submission.
Thank you for your support of the Caledonia Conservancy.
