Hopscotch with sign and can finished.jpg

Hopscotch

You won’t be counting numbers…you will be counting things we find in nature.

Tic-Tac-Toe

You will find two opportunities to play. Find the first and play a game using pine cones or sticks you pick up; keep on walking and find the second one!

Checkers

The game table is a stump with the board scored into the stump top. There is a container with black and white checker pieces.

Birds

Can you find the birds? On the western walking path by the pines, look for a cardinal statue and info about the bird. A little farther down the path look for a statue and info about a goldfinch.

Picnic Bench

Enjoy a picnic down in the pine trees at the west side of King’s Corner. Please take your garbage with you, we don’t have garbage service.

Children’s Learning Center

How far can you jump

In the Children’s Learning Center you will find a 4” x 4” board with the distance many critters can jump. (You may be surprised how far certain animals can jump!) Test your skills from a stand-still start or try with a running start. Challenge your parents, siblings and friends to see who can jump the farthest.

Balance Beams

In the Children’s Learning Center try your hand at the 4” and 2” balance beams. Careful, wood is slippery when wet.

Dedication Bench

Rest a spell at our large dedicated bench. On each side of the bench is a flip board with questions about different insects or birds. For fun, test your knowledge.

Children’s Bench

A place for the kids to rest a spell. Next to the bench are more flip boards for testing your knowledge of birds and insects.

Mini Horse

Young children can measure their height in hands instead of inches and feet. Horses are still measured by hands today. History is given next to the mini horse.

Art work

Art work is done by the young men from the Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility in conjunction with the Racine Arts Council, and the Caledonia Conservancy. This is the first time many of the young men have attempted painting. There are 14 paintings. There is also information about each item of nature painted.

Flip Boards

There are five flip boards in the Children’s Learning Center for you to test your knowledge about insects and birds. Give it a try.

Man’s Face

Just for fun, see if you can find the man’s face carved in the tree. It is in the Children’s Learning Center.

Flower Board Display

Measure your height with that of flowers found in our area and at Conservancy properties. Height is given in feet and centimeters. Flowers are hand painted by a local artist named Mary Janik. Her son Jeff did most of the work on the fairy door.

On the way to the Children’s Learning Center

21 Stump Street

Enjoying walking across our 21 stumps. Remember, nature can be slippery when wet. Be careful. 21 Stump Street can be found next to the fairy door winner’s display on the way to the Children’s Learning Center.
