Our September photo contest was one of the hardest because of computer problems, and because we really like so many pictures.  In the end we picked Mary Billerbeck's Bear's Head Tooth.  From a distance it may look like cauliflower and from close up frozen water at a waterfall.  The Dryad's Saddle from Auston shows very clearly why it is called nature's birdbath.  This water supply is important to insects and small birds.   We had a few "Chicken of the Woods" photos and each mushroom still looks different although it is the same type mushroom.  We had a few Turkey Tails, and although the same mushroom, they still look different.  This stark color difference on these mushrooms always makes it a striking mushroom. Jeanne's Hygrophorus milky, taught us that a sticky milky white latex is released when the plant is disturbed.  Please enjoy these wonderful photos.
